Kutchan (Grand Hirafu Snow Resort) to Iiyama (Nozawa Onsen)

Hi i'm looking at using the JR pass for the above journey (from Kutchan to Iiyama). I would just like to check if all the stations along the way will be eligible for the JR pass. I've searched the journey on hyperdia and it goes to the following stations: Kutchan to OSHAMAMBE to SHIN-HAKODATE-HOKUTO to OMIYA(SAITAMA) to IIYAMA. Would this all be covered by the JR pass? In addition to this I will have a large ski bag with me, is it possible to carry this on the trains?

Finally how does activating your JR pass work? I arrive in Tokyo on the 1st of February but wouldn't want to use the pass until the 8th of February am I able to activate it in Narita when I first arrive?

Hi Hollie,

Yes, the Japan Rail Pass covers this route. A Skibag should be fine to bring as well.

You can activate the JR Pass and then select the starting day for the pass, so you do not have to start using it right away.
