Hi Daniel-San,

It's nice to found out about this forum.

I am planning a trip to Japan next year for 21 days , arriving early April and hoping to catch the cherry blossom in full bloom, flying into Tokyo, plan to get 14 days JR Pass for us to travel around Japan (not too sure if it's sufficient)

Can you please advise if the following plan is making any sense if not, could you please advise the recommended itinerary ?

My current plan:-
Day 1 evening - Arrive Tokyo (overnight in Tokyo)
Day 2 - Tokyo - Kyoto - Free Day Gion Area
Day 3 - Kyoto
Day 4 - Kyoto
Day 5 - Kyoto - Hiroshima - Kyoto (Day Trip)
Day 6 - Kyoto - Kobe - Osaka
Day 7 - Osaka - Nagoya
Day 8 - Nagoya
Day 9 - Nagoya - Hakone
Day 10 - Hakone
Day 11 - Hakone
Day 12 - Hakone - Tateyama (Kurobe Alpine Route)
Day 13 - Tateyama - Tokyo
Day 14 - Tokyo - Hokkaido (flight) - Moere Park, Odori Park
Day 15 - Hokkaido - Otaru, Nijo Market, Sapporo Beer Museum
Day 16 - Hokkaido
Day 17 - Hokkaido - Tokyo (flight)
Day 18 - Tokyo
Day 19 - Tokyo
Day 20 - Tokyo - Zao Fox Village
Day 21 - Tokyo
Day 22 - Return

Thank you,

Rocklurva

Hi Rocklurva,

I think your itinerary works out quite well for the most part, the one thing that stands out to me is: why return to Tokyo to fly to Hokkaido? There are other airport closer to the Tateyama Alpine route with to domestic flights. Or if you are worried about budget, why not use the JR Pass all the way to Hokkaido. It is a good 7 hours trip from Tokyo - Sapporo but it would be by far the cheapest option.

That said, for the other first 14 days of your trip. A 14 day JR Pass will work out great here and help you make very good savings.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
