Hello
I plan to take a single ticket from Tokyo to Kyoto on the 31st of August and then I will activate a 7-day pass. I will do so as I am travelling from Kyoto to Osaka on the 3rd of September, then from Osaka to Nara on the 5th and finally from Nara to Tokyo on the 7th.
Could you be so kind to review my itinerary? Is this the most economically sound plan? What is your suggestion?
Are there any fast trains i.e. bullet trains included in the pass for my trip from Nara to Tokyo?

Thank you
Calin

Hi Calin,

To be frank with you here, a 7-day JR Pass would not be worth it if you travel Kyoto - Osaka - Nara - Tokyo using a 7-day pass.

The JR Pass is best used for travel on longer routes using the Shinkansen, like Tokyo - Kyoto. All travel Kyoto - Nara - Osaka is locally and does not cost much, the only long trip then left is Nara - Kyoto.

As such, I would just buy normal tickets for your trip, or see if you can make the return Tokyo - Kyoto and Nara - Tokyo within 7-days.

Kind regards,
Daniel
