Hello Daniel,
We will be in Japan for 10 days and I want to make sure that we are using the 7 days JR Pass as best as possible.
1: Can you please review my itinerary below and give me your advice?
2: Instead of activating the JR Pass on the day that we arrive @ Narita (around 3pm) should we use the JR Pass on the day that we are traveling from Osaka to Kyoto (multiple destinations) and just pay for our trip from Narita to our first hotel? I calculated that our day trip from Osaka to Kyoto (mostly JR lines - Fushimi Inari, Golden Pavilion and Gion) will cost more than the trip from Narita to Nishi-Nippori via skyliner and will be best if we use the JR Pass for this day. Please advise if I am correct? Thank you
3: When we arrive at Narita International, how much should we put towards the suica card?
ITINERARY
Day 1 - Arrive at Narita Int Airport @ 3pm - travel to Nishi-Nippori Station via skyliner. We would pay for this trip so that we can use day #7 later in our trip. Our hotel, "Residence Condominium Kalahaai" is a 9 minute walk from Nishi-Nippori station (staying for 5 nights). I researched that if we travel via NEX, it will take longer and we will need to exchange trains at Tokyo Station- is that correct?
Day 2 - Tokyo (JR Pass Day #1)
Day 3 - Tokyo or Hakone - still deciding (JR Pass Day #2)
Day 4 - Mt. Fuji (JR Pass Day #3)
Day 5 - Kamakura (JR Pass Day #4)
Day 6 - Travel from Tokyo Station to Osaka to 4 nights stay (if time permits sightseeing around Osaka) (JR Pass Day #5)
Day 7 - Hiroshima/ Miyajima (JR Pass Day #6)
Day 8 - Kyoto (JR Pass Day #7)
Day 9 - Osaka (NO JR PASS - use suica card)
Day 10 - Fly home from Itami Airport
Thank you,
Mary
