Hi, I’ve put down a potential itinerary that I’m thinking about doing. I’ve used google maps’ lines & prices as guide but would like some advice and information please and is it worth getting a ¥80,000 14day JR pass?

DAY 1 Shinagawa - Shin Osaka ~ Tokaido Shinkansen ~ ¥14,500
DAY 3 Osaka - Kyoto ~ Tokaido-Sanyo ~ ¥1160 day return
DAY 4 Osaka - Himeji ~ Tokaido-Sanyo ~ ¥1460
Himeji - Sannomiya, Kobe ~ Tokaido-Sanyo ~ ¥960
Sannomiya, Kobe - Osaka ~ Tokaido-Sanyo ~ ¥420 day return
DAY 6 Shin Osaka - Hiroshima ~ Sanyo Shinkansen ~ ¥11,000
DAY 9 Hiroshima - Shin Osaka ~ Sanyo Shinkansen ~ ¥11,000
DAY 11 Shin Osaka - Tokyo ~ Tokaido Shinkansen ~ ¥14,750

Hi there,

I think you've already answered your own question. As your total travel cost is lower than the cost of a 14-day JR Pass here. It would make more sense to just buy normal tickets as you travel.

However, you could look at using a Kansai - Hiroshima Area Pass to make savings going to Hiroshima and around Kansai.

Hope this helps :)
Daniel
