Day 1 - Arrival at Tokyo Narita International Airport
Day 2 - Explore Tokyo
Day 3 - Kawaguchiko > Mt. Fuji 5th Station>Arakurayama sengen park
Day 4 - Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route
Day 5 - Nagano

It will be great help if you can give suggestions to improve my itinerary as well !!

Hi there,

For this trip, I do not think you'd be making savings using the JR Pass, and instead I would suggest buying normal tickets.

Both travel around Fuji Kawaguchiko and the Tateyama Apline route are not included in the pass, which would leave the last big route to be Nagano to Kyoto.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Thanks Daniel,
I got one more question which you maybe able to help.

I want to get to Shinano-Ōmachi Station from Kawaguchiko on my Day 3 and when I checked, the public transportation is not frequent and also takes like ~5hrs.

I tried researching fare estimates for taxi but didn’t find any. Could you advise if its feasible to get a taxi for this route and how much will it cost?

Hi there,

A taxi in Japan is around 800yen starting price and 400yen/km - this does vary a bit, sometimes discounts are also possible for longer distances. The route seems to be 170km. So a taxi would cost around 68.000 yen, I guess you could get it for a bit less, maybe 50.000 but that's still a lot!

Consider renting a car for a day, if you are allowed to drive in Japan.

Hi Daniel,
I hold Singapore license and I guess I require IDP to drive in Japan. Its not expensive, but is there any option there to pickup car from one station and drop off in another ? Which I can use in this case ?
Coz I plan to exit Alpine route via Toyoma and then head to Kyoto without returning back to Kawaguchiko.

Sorry if it sounds dumb to you!!! Asking because I have used such rental services in UAE.

I believe you'd be okay, but I'm not an expert on renting cars in Japan either (travel by railway 99% of the time).

Different rental cars will allow you to return it elsewhere, sometimes with an extra fee. Best is to enquiry at a couple of agencies and compare quotes, they can differ a lot!

Hi Daniel ,
I have another question which I tried asking as new post in the forum but unfortunately I didn’t get any reply so far!!! It will be helpful if you can answer it!! I’m quoting my question below
<

Hi ,
I was able to find out regarding Alpine route one way ticket from JR east for just 9800 yen which covers transportation all the way from Nagano to Toyama (including fare for alpine route)

https://www.jreast.co.jp/e/pdf/20200303tatekuro_e.pdf

Is this still available or an expired promotion? I want able to find any websites to purchase this ticket. Also, based on Alpine royte website , one way ticket costs 12,000+ yen for one way thats just from ogizawa <>tateyama. Which makes me wonder how the above ticket can be so cheap! Is there anything Im missing here!?
