Hi, my husband and I will be travelling to Osaka and Tokyo from 17-25 October 2018. We intend to do a day trip to Kyoto and a day trip to Nara, from Osaka. This is our 1st time travelling to a few places in Japan.
Please advise if we should get JR Pass or what type of pass to purchase. Our itinerary:

Day 1 (17 oct)
- Arrive in Kansai Airport at 10am - Travel by train to hotel at Dotonburi area

Day 2 (18 oct)
- Day trip to Kyoto, and back to Osaka

Day 3 (19 oct)
- Day trip to Nara, and back to Osaka

Day 4 (20 oct)
- Universal Studios

Day 5 (21 oct)
- Osaka to Tokyo by train - Travel by train to hotel in Shibuya

Day 6 (22 oct) to Day 8 (24 oct)
- Travel by JR line around Tokyo

Day 9 (25 oct)
- Shibuya to Haneda/Narita Airport

Thank you in advance

Hi there,

I analysed your itinerary and looked at the price of normal tickets vs the price of the JR Pass and recommend using normal tickets for this route. A JR Pass would have been a good option in case you made a return Tokyo - Kyoto using the Shinkansen.

Hope this answers your question,
Daniel
