Hello!

I will be travelling in March 2020 to Japan and will be landing in Osaka KIX airport and will fly out from there too. The places that we would like to visit are below:

Tokyo - maybe go to Mt. Fuji?
Kyoto
Nara
Hiroshima

What can you recommend? Should we get the 7 day pass?

Will the pass allow us to visit the tourist places in the cities that I mentioned?

Thanks for your help!

Hello there,

Yes, I recommend using the 7-day JR Pass for this travel, given that you would included all the cities you mention. The cost of a 7-day pass is similar to the cost of a return ticket Osaka - Tokyo, so basically you'd get all the extra travel for free.

The JR Pass also covers local JR lines within cities like Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka. In Hiroshima you can also use the tourist sightseeing bus for free and the ferry to Miyajima.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hello Daniel!

Thanks for your reply.

Can we use the JR pass to visit places in those cities for DIY tours? We feel that it will allow us to experience Japan more than if we book tours to visit those places.

Thank you!

Hi there,

Yes, you can go to any city/local JR station you want. Hop-on, Hop-off or take a long train ride whenever the fancy takes you. It's one of the best parts of the JR Pass - its flexibility.
