7 or 14 day pass?

Hi,

I'm travelling to Japan with my family mid-March for 2 weeks. We plan to stay in Tokyo for approximately 5 days including day trips to Mt Fuji, Hakone.. We plan to travel to Hakone via bullet train on day 6. We will then visit Takayama, hiroshima, kyoto with our last intended bullet train being day 11 from Hiroshima to Kyoto. I think a 7 day JR pass would be enough but is it worth having it for 2 weeks - have others used it for other travel while in Tokyo or Kyoto?

Many thanks

Hi there,

Cost-wise a 7-day JR Pass would be the best option when used on the days that you already intend to use it.

That said, you could consider a 14-day JR Pass for the added flexibility. You already do more than enough travel for the 14-day JR Pass for extra day trips and the added flexibility the pass brings.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
