Hi,

Will be travelling to Japan in November and the itin is as follows:
18 Nov: Arrive in Tokyo
20 Nov: Tokyo - Hakone
21 Nov: Hakone - Kyoto
23 Nov: Nara day trip, back to Kyoto
24 Nov: Kyoto - Osaka
26 Nov: Osaka - Takayama
28 Nov: Takayama - Tokyo
30 Nov: leave Tokyo
Any other places I’m missing? This is my first time to Japan so I am not sure what to expect.
In this case, what is the most cost efficient alternatives? We are thinking of getting the 14-day pass but not sure if it will be the best alternatives for us

Hi there,

There are many more places in Japan worth a visit but you need to make a selection for the days that you'll be travelling. I do think that you've made a great plan here with many amazing stops. If there was one place I'd add here it would be Hiroshima and Miyajima but I do not see where you could add it in.

With this amount of travel, a 14 day JR Pass is definitely the best option :)

Kind regards,
Daniel

Thank you very much for the advice! Also, I read on one of the other posts regarding Hakone free pass, where can i get that? And I am planning to spend a day in Hakone, will that be enough? In my mind, I keep thinking that one day is not enough but two days might be too long so I was kind of confused when planning for Hakone

Hi Felicia,

You can do the full Hakone circle in one way, people like to add a day more to hang around, enjoy an onsen or go viewing Fuji. Transport in Hakone can also be a bit complicated so it is nice to have some extra time to travel around as well. That said, if you have 1 full day in Hakone then you will be able to get most out of your visit.

The Hakone Free Pass can be purchased at any of the bigger stations in Hakone, including Odawara but also at the Odakyu station in Shinjuku.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
