Hi,

I'm planning a 10 day trip to Japan in October and I'm a bit confused in terms of transportation. Below is my Itinerary:

Day 1: Haneda airport to Tokyo. Explore Tokyo
Day 2: Hakone (stay in Hakone)
Day 3: Kamakura, Enoshira and back to Tokyo
Day 4: Day trip to Nikko from Tokyo
Day 5: from Tokyo to Kyoto
Day 6: Kyoto
Day 7: Day trip to Miyajima and Hiroshima
Day 8: Nara
Day 9: Nara and Osaka
Day 10: Osaka
Day 11: From Osaka to Tokyo and stay in Tokyo
Day 12: Tokyo to Haneda Airport

Will it be enough if I just buy a 7 day pass and use it from day 5 to day 11? Or will it be more convenient to buy a 14 day pass and use it for the whole duration of my holiday? Which option would save me more money?

Thank you for you help!

Hi there,

Yes, a 7-day JR Pass would be the best option for travel from day 5 to day 11. You could cover the first part before then using local tickets and or passes. There are different discount options available, like the Hakone Free Pass, Nikko heritage pass and combination ticket for Kamakura and Enoshima.

Then from day 5-11, the JR Pass would cover travel between all these cities.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
