Travelling the best routes

Hi there,

I'm planning a 2 week trip to Japan in July using the JR Pass.
The first week I'm only in Ibaraki and Tokyo so I won't be using it then but I wondered if anyone could suggest the best routes for me from

Fujikawaguchiko to Kyoto Station

then a route from

Kyoto Station to Hiroshima peace park

And if anyone can give me a rough estimate of getting from Hiroshima to Tokyo that would be great. I'm trying to decide whether its better to fly for £90 or make the most of my rail pass and just get the train!

Thanks in advance!

Hi there,

The JR Pass is sort commitment. It will take care of you while you travel Japan but you have to use it to make the best use out of it. You take part of this away by flying.

For travel from Kawaguchiko, using the JR Pass. The most cost efficient way is to travel from Kawaguchiko station to Otsuki station. Using the Fujikyu railway (private line/1140yen one way). From Otsuki you can use the JR Pass to Tokyo or Shin-Yokohama station, you can use the Hikari Shinkansen from these stations to Kyoto. The whole route takes 5-6 hours.

From Kyoto - Hiroshima,
Take a local train or Hikari Shinkansen to Shin-Osaka station. There transfer to the Sakura Shinkansen to Hiroshima. The whole route should take around 111 Minutes.

Then from Hiroshima to Tokyo, take the Sakura Shinkansen back to Shin-Osaka from where you can take the Hikari to Tokyo (275 Minutes)

Hope this helps,
Daniel
