Hi,

I am travelling with a friend to Japan for two weeks and am looking to find out if I can travel by train from Niseko to Nozawa Onsen. I think the stations are Niseko to ilyama. Do I have to go via Tokyo? If not how long would it take on the train and would its be better to fly? We will have loads of ski stuff with us.

Thanks

Hi there,

Tokyo is the main connection point for the Shinkansen in Japan and making a transfer here is very likely but you can also transfer at Omiya.

Traveling between both is going to be some hassle whether it is by train or plane. Don't forget that you have to travel to and from the airport too. Going by train could be a lot more economic as the route is covered by the Japan Rail Pass and would include 3 transfers.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
