Hi!

Will the JRP cover the cost to get from Haneda airport to Tokyo and then to Kyoto (Nakagyō-ku, Kyōto-shi, Kyōto-fu, Japan) and then back to Haneda airport?

I believe from Kyoto I will have to get on the Karasumaoike Station to Haneda? Will I have to make any stops ? Does the JRP cover this?

Thank you,

JT

Hi there,

The JR Pass will cover travel from Haneda to Kyoto and back. However you may still need local travel around Kyoto, using non-JR transport.

Karasumaoike is a Tokyo subway station, you can get on the subway at Kyoto station.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Thanks, Daniel. So a 7-day pass will do? Also, is there a pass for the local travel around Kyoto or do we just pay as we go?

Yes, a 7 day JR Pass would be good. You can use it on local JR lines in Kyoto, these provide access to the west and south of Kyoto but not the north and east. As such you may still want to use other transport, such as the Kyoto bus. Day tickets are available for only 500yen a day, exploring Kyoto by renting a bicycle.
