Hi,

Can I ask how do I get to Hakone from Tokyo? Can we use the JR Pass? From which station can we purchase the Hakone Freepass?

Thanks,
Joreen

Hi there,

You can use the Shinkansen to travel from Tokyo station to Odawara station. There you can buy the Hakone Pass and explore the Hakone area from.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Our JR Pass will be expired on the day we land in Tokyo. Is there another way to reach Hakone apart from Shinkansen? If it is a must to use Shinkansen, how much would the charges be from Shinagawa station?

Thanks
Joreen

Hi Joreen,

You can use the Odakyu railway from Shinjuku or local JR lines from Odawara as well. These cost less but generally take longer. There's an add-on you can buy for the Hakone Free Pass to travel on the Odakyu lin.

The Shinkansen costs around 3,600yen/one way, the local lines about half of this.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
