Hello

I'm planning to go from Sapporo to Otaru and back in the same day for the 2018 Snow Light Path Festival, and also I want to do the same thing going to the Asahikawa Winter Festival, and I have three questions.
1- Is this possible? I mean, read that the stations are like 90 minutes away from each other
2- How often are the departures in each of these stations?
3- Is possible to get to Sapporo from Tokio using the train, right? (obviusly this trip won't be a round trip in the same day)

Hope you can help me with.

Warmest regards.

Hi there,

Otaru and Asahikawa are two separate day trips right? If so, then I don't see any problem. Trains are frequent enough, at least one service every hour but generally at least two.

You can also use the JR Pass to travel from Sapporo to Tokyo, this trip takes about 7 hours and you can use the super fast Hayabusa Shinkansen trains from Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto station.

Kind regards,
Daniel
