Aloha!
My fiance and I will be traveling to Japan on April 6th. We would like to travel from Osaka to Kyoto, Kyoto to Mt. Fuji area (havent decided on what town yet) and then to Tokyo. We are only in Japan for 5 full days. Is the railpass the better option for traveling these 3 legs or can we buy individual tickets instead?

Thanks!

Hi there,

Yes, a 7 day JR Pass would help you make savings. The cost of a 7 day JR Pass is about the same price as a normal return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto/Osaka. Any additional travel you do with it would help you make savings. Think of travel to/from the airport, the local JR Network in Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto and elsewhere.

One note on Fuji, depending on where you go, the JR Pass is cover part of the way. For more details see:

Hope this helps,
Daniel
