Hello I'm going to spend a week in Japan with my family and we will explore Tokyo and planing to spend a weekend in Kyoto. I wonder if the JR pass it is a good option to get around in Tokyo or would it be more for long distance travel?
Thank you!

Hi there,

The real strength of the JR Pass is in using it for long-distance travel. For instance, the cost of a 7 day JR Pass is around the same price as a normal return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto. The JR Pass can also be used to travel on the JR Network around Tokyo and to the airport.

Together with your trip Kyoto and local travel in Tokyo, the JR Pass would make for good options.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
