Iya valley to Mt Koya via ferry

As part of our 14 day travel around japan I would like to travel around Shikoku and visit Iya valley , and also fit in Mt Koya on our 2 week trip . We are based in Fukuyama for a few days before we head back to Tokyo . I 'm thinking we can travel to Shikoku , possibly doing the bike trail, then head off Shikoku via the tokushima-Wakayama ferry , and on up toward Mt Koya to spend a free night there . That route strikes me as , more direct , possibly more scenic , and fit a little more off the beaten track travel , also not doubling up as we will already have travelled down to Fukuyama from Osaka by train. Does that sound feasible ? Is much of that travel covered by JR pass , the ferry too ? Do you have any info on the ferry times ? My research is directing me to a site in Japanese , which is challenging !

Thanks for your help

Hello there,

Visiting Shikoku is great! It's probably the less frequented part of Japan by foreign tourists but nevertheless
Taking the route by ferry sounds like a very nice idea. The only downside is that you would have to pay for the ferry, as it is not covered by the JR Pass.

I don't have detailed information on the ferry but got a decent grasp of Japanese, I'd be more than happy to take a look at the website for you.
