From Fukuoka-Hiroshima-Kyoto-Osaka-Tokyo in 12 days with 7 day JR pass

Hello everyone,

I will arrive in Fukuoka Airport on March 14. I would like to see Japan using the JR Pass from Fukuoka to Tokyo. Entry point is Fukuoka and exit is Narita.

I would like to take the 7 day JR pass since I can stay in Fukuoka before activating it, and will be in Tokyo in the 8th day. Or is it cheaper to get the 14 days? I am concern about not being able to use the 14 days to it's maximum. And wouldn't want to use other trains or transportation which can add up cost.

Can you help me make an itinerary that will give me the biggest benefit of the 7 day JR Pass from Fukuoka - Hiroshima -Kyoto-Osaka-Tokyo. The places are not final, so if you know a better route, I am welcome to that as well.

Thank you :)

Hi there,

A 7 day JR Pass is the best option if you when it comes to budget. You can make good savings by using it to travel from Fukuoka all the way to Tokyo and make any stop you like.

When it comes to route, I would do Fukuoka - Hiroshima - Osaka - Kyoto - Tokyo. This way you don't have any backtracking (note that I only switched Osaka and Kyoto around).

Good to know is that the station name for Fukuoka is called Hakata station. Use Hakata station if you want to search for any route to or from Fukuoka.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hello Daniel,

Thanks for the recommendation.

If you were to stay in those places, how many days would you allow each?

Sample:
Fukuoka - 2 days
Hiroshima - 2 days
Osaka- 2
Kyoto- 3
Tokyo- 3

I could stay upto 14 days, but would want to use only the 7 days JR pass.

I heard Narra is good too.

Would love to know what you think.

Regards,
Mary

Hi there,

I could stay a year in any of those places :)

With the time allowed and a 7 day JR Pass I would do Fukuoka 2 nights, Hiroshima 1 night, Osaka 2 nights, Kyoto 3 nights, and send the remaining time in Tokyo.

Nara is indeed a nice day trip to make from either Kyoto or Osaka.

Hope this helps!

Day 1 of JR Pass will start on Day 3 (Fukuoka to Hiroshima), and end with Day 8 (Kyoto to Tokyo)?

Will definitely see Narra.

Thanks for all your help Daniel.

Appreciate it a lot!

Hi there,

I assume you'd go for a 7 day JR Pass? In that case you'd have to be back in Tokyo on day 9.

Outside of that, your itinerary looks good to me.

Enjoy Japan!

Hello Daniel,

Yeah, that's a typo.. will just stay 3 days in Kyoto.

Looks like an amazing race to me, lol. But would definitely enjoy every bit of it.

Thank you so much!

Regards,
Mary
