Accessibility at Otsuki

Hi

We will be travelling around Japan early next year and have arranged a rail pass. One trip will be from Kyoto to kawaguchiko, staying there for two days and then kawaguchiko to Tokyo a couple of days later. I understand that a change of trains will be required in Otsuki. I am concerned about the transfer because my partner is in a wheelchair and I see there is an overpass to change platforms. Is there an alternative way to change platforms here because we will never make it up the stairs in a wheelchair.

Thankyou for your advice & looking forward to visiting wonderful Japan

Regards
Jackson

Hello Jackson,

I don't recall Otsuki station enough to give a definite answer from my own experience. However the JR East website about Otsuki station states that there an elevator and toilets equipped for wheelchair usage. Going by that, I think it should be okay.

The Japanese literally says there is platform access for Electric Wheel Chairs.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
