Hi !

I have a family of 3 adults traveling to Japan arriving 07-Apr and departing 20-Apr (14D/13N).
Below is my tentative itinerary:

1) 07-Apr, 8.00am: Arrive Narita Airport T2
2) Stay 2N - Tokyo and Shinjuku area
3) Stay 1N - Lake Kawaguchi area
4) Stay 1N - Shizuoka area
5) Stay 1N - Sendai and Niigita
6) Stay 1N - Nagoya
7) Stay 3N - Kyoto
8) Stay 3N - Osaka
9) Stay 1N - Return to Tokyo
10) 20-Apr, 11.00am: Depart Narita T2

I would appreciate very much your advice on what Rail Pass /Train to use and any suggestion
on what would be the recommended itinerary based on the above plan.

Thank you in advance.

Cheers,
TL Tan

Hi there,

You'll be traveling a good amount over your entire stay in Japan and I think using a 14 day JR Pass would work best when used for the last 14 days of your itinerary. This would give you the best possible savings and cover travel between all the cities you wish to go to.

I see that you also plan to go to Fuji, we have a detailed post on how to get there here:

All travel from Shizuoka will be on the Shinkansen network and will be fast and easy.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
