Hi there,

Your plan looks good to the nice base itinerary to explore Japan with.

As for the JR Pass, a 7 day JR Pass would have been great if you made a return Tokyo - Kyoto within the 7 day period but you don't do enough travel for a 14 day JR Pass to help you make savings.
