Hi I wanted to know how much it would cost if I were to travel to the following places in order:

Nagoya to Kyoto
Kyoto to Osaka
Osaka to Nara
Nara to Tokyo
Tokyo back to Nara

I'll be going to Japan soon and am contemplating on buying a rail pass but don't know if it would be cheaper buying tickets for bullet trains. Also are regular trains available for me traveling to the above places? If yes, how much would it cost and how long?

Thank you

Hello there,

You can use the JR Pass Fare Calculator to find an approximate ticket cost of a single route or even your full itinerary.

I don't know how many days you will be travelling but a 7 day JR Pass will be cheaper to use here than buying normal tickets. Just the return Nara - Tokyo will cost as much as a 7 day JR Pass. Any additional travel would only add to your savings. The JR Pass can be used to visit all the places you wish to go to.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
