Hi,
We are landing at Kansai (KIX) on Sunday at 5:50 pm and depart the following Sunday at 4:30 pm. We want to go to Hiroshima/Miyajima, Kyoto/Nara and Tokyo.
I'm looking to understand if we should buy a JR rail pass and if we should go to Kyoto first or get right down to Hiroshima?
Thank you for your help.
Any suggestions to a different Itinerary are also welcome.

Hi there,

Yes, a 7 day JR Pass would provide very good value if used for travel to Kyoto, Hiroshima, Tokyo and back to Kansai.

While both options work, I think option 1 is slightly better as travel is better spread around. Doing Hiroshima - Tokyo in one trip is quite long.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
