Me and a friend are traveling to Hakuba to go skiing, as well as doing a bit of traveling. We are in Japan for 9 days, and would like to travel to Tokyo and possibly Kyoto if we have time. If we buy a 7 day pass, when does the count start, as soon as we arrive, or the first time we use the pass?

Hi there,
You can select a first day of use when you exchange the JR Pass. This day counts as a full day, no matter what time you start using it.
Hope this helps,
Daniel
