Hi, myself and my boyfriend plus our baby (who will be 19months old) are planning a two week trip to Japan. Our itinerary is vague but we start with 5 nights in Tokyo then head down to Kyoto and Nara, then to Osaka, Hiroshima, Miyajima, Naoshima and possibly up to near Mount Fuji and back to Tokyo Narita.

So should we get a 7 day pass and activate it when we leave Tokyo or get a 14 day pass for the entire trip?

Many thanks

Hi there,

Either a 7 day or 14 day JR Pass would work nicely for your trip. There's plenty of travel and you can make great savings.

Personally, I'd take the 14 day JR Pass as it gives more flexibility. Doing Kyoto, Nara, Hiroshima, Miyajima, and Naoshima is possible in 7 days but you would be in a constant hurry. Given that you are traveling with a baby, I think the additional travel time is well appreciated.

Enjoy your trip!
Daniel
