What is the best ROUND TRIP Rail Pass from Narita Airport to Tokyo, Tokyo to Mt Fuji and Tokyo to Osaka?

Hi Daniel,
Im trying to find out the most practical round trip rail pass to buy for our 9 days travel to Japan by end of March.

1) Is the JR Pass usable in the following route?

  • Narita Airport Terminal2 to Tokyo to Narita Airport Terminal2 (round trip)
  • Tokyo to Ryogoku, Sumida-ku (AirBnB Accommodations)
  • Tokyo to Mt Fuji to Tokyo (round trip)
  • Tokyo to Osaka to Tokyo (round trip)

2) If it is the JRPass, can we use the same pass to travel around Tokyo and Osaka?

3) How much is the RT pass per person?

Hello there,

I would recommend using a 7 day JR Pass for your trip. There's not really any other pass that matches your itinerary. The cost of a 7 day JR Pass is about the same as a normal RT ticket between Tokyo - Osaka using the Shinkansen. Now you get 7 days of unlimited travel for the same price.

1.) Yes, the JR Pass covers all these routes with one note on Fuji, it will depend where around Fuji you will visit. For details see this page.

2.) Yes, the local JR network in both Tokyo and Osaka is covered.
