Hi
We are planning a trip to Japan in May for 14 nights.
The route is like this: landing in Osaka in the evening. Accommodation at the airport hotel.
The day after moving to Kyoto for 4 nights (including a day in Nara and back to Kyoto).
From Kyoto to Hiroshima for 3 nights and from Hiroshima to Tokyo for 5 nights (including a day trip to Niko and back).
The question is when to valid the train ticket for a week that will be the most economical.
How to travel on days when the train ticket will not be valid?
Thank you to the respondents.
what day to valid the 7 days jr pass
Hi there,
I would recommend using the 7 day JR Pass for the trip Kyoto - Hiroshima and Hiroshima - Tokyo. These are by far the more expensive routes and where you could make the best possible savings with the JR Pass. Then add Nikko too, as you can use the Shinkansen part of the way there too for fast access.
Then just buy normal tickets for local travel when you do not have a pass. A travel pass like ICOCA for easy travel.
Hope this helps,
Daniel
Thank you very very much. I've become smarter.
