Hi, I am travelling to Kansai International Airport on 8 December at 4.30 pm. I would like to buy west kansai rail pass and activate it soon as I arrived Kansai International Airport so that I can use haruka train by free. Here are my Itinerary:
Day:
1. Arrived KIX 4.30 pm
2. Osaka-Nara-Osaka
3. Osaka-Kyoto planning to depart at 10 am.
4. Kyoto
5. Kyoto-Tokyo
6. Tokyo
7. Tokyo
8. Tokyo
9.Tokyo-Hakodate
10. Hakodate-Sapporo
11. Sapporo - Kutchan-Otaru-Sapporo
12.Sapporo
13. Sapporo -Chitose Airport

I would like to ask, if in my case, can I just buy 2 day pass, can it cover my osaka to kyoto journey? because I am using it before 4.30 pm (my actvation time).

Another thing I would like to ask is:
I am also buying JR Pass wide Nation 7 days, which day for me is best to activate my JR pass 7 days for efficiency and cost savings.

Hi Regina,

For the JR Pass and regional passes, each pass is counted by the day and the first day is counted as a full day, no matter what time you start using the pass. Should you wish to use a Kansai Area Pass for day 1 - 3, then you need a 3-day Kansai Area Pass.

The trips Kyoto - Tokyo and Tokyo - Sapporo are the ones that cost the much, so using your 7-day JR Pass for these is key.
