Q....we will be taking a daylong trip to Kyoto on Tuesday on bullet train. Other days we will be using trains around Tokyo. Is it best to get JR Pass for the 5 days ?

We are staying in Shinjuku next week Sun 8th - Fri 14th. - is a JRPass what we want or do individual tickets ? Cost ?

Hi there:
A: A 7 day JR Pass would be worth while here, the pass is about the same price as a return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto using the Shinkansen. Now you can use any JR line during your entire Japan trip. Including local JR lines around Tokyo and travel to/from the Airport.

Yes that's possible but the prices are 10-20% higher, however I think it is the best option given the timeline.
