I will be going to Japan from the 4th Dec to 15Dec 2015 I will be flying to Tokyo and plan to stay in Tokyo for the last 5 days of the trip. However I would like to go to Hokkaido during the first 6 days of the trip. I would like to know if it would be worthwhile for me to get the 7 days JR pass for the below itinerary:

Tokyo haneda airport
Tokyo to Sapporo
Sapporo to Hakodate Hakodate to Tokyo and all the places in tokyo

Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks.

Hi there,

Yes! The cost of a 7 day JR Pass is nearly the same as a one way Tokyo - Sapporo. Imagine the savings if you use it for a return trip. Besides that, the JR Pass also covers all JR lines in Hokkaido, as well as the local JR Network in Tokyo and travel to Haneda using the Tokyo Monorail.

Hope this helps,
