Our family ( 2 adults / 4years baby ) plan to travle by following schedule now :

1) arrival at Narita airport at 4:00pm of July. 21th -> go to Tokyo by JR express -> go to Nagoya by 新幹線.

2) from Nagoya to Shirahama at 9:00AM on July 22nd.
Please advise what the best available way ( express rail or 新幹線 ) including transportation time

3) from Shirahama to Osaka by express train on July. 26th ( morning time )

4) From Osaka to Tokyo around 10:00AM of July 29th by express rail (??) -> NARITA AIRPORT by JR express

I'd like to get your kind recommandation what the best choice for short transportation above each destination.
And we can use JR pass for above all routes or we need to buy ticket separately.

Your kind information will be highly appreciated.

Thanks and best regards,
Ivy Lee

Hi there,

For travel times, I recommend learning to plan with Hyperdia this way you can find any route/timetable and more. It's a great tool for planning with the JR Pass. We also have a useful interactive map with all JR lines included.

The JR Pass will cover all your travel for the above routes.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Thanks for your kind information.
Please advise to where ( what tokyo station) we should go to take JR EXPRESS to Nagoya.
And how 4years old baby should take seat because you are selling the ticket for child from 6 year's old.

And we can buy the Nozomi ticket first and we can fix the departure time after arrival in Japan.

Thanks for your kind help.

Best regards,
Ivy Lee

Hi Ivy,

As far as tickets go for your trip, right now it would be cheaper to buy normal tickets than a JR Pass.

Children below the age of 6 can travel for free: https://www.jrpass.com/blog/japan-rail-passes-for-children

I would recommend just buying the tickets at the station when you arrive in Japan. There's no need to do so beforehand.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi Ivy Lee,

Yes, you can the train (Narita Express or a local train) to Tokyo station, then Shinkansen to Nagoya.
