Hi JR Pass team,

I will be travel to Japan on 2nd Nov until 11th Nov and i plan on buying JR Pass $259 to cover all of my tour (Narita - Osaka - Kyoto - Tokyo - Haneda).
Below i will explain my itinerary and some question in it.
Please kindly assist me. Thank you.

3rd Nov: Narita Airport To Osaka
1. If i buy JR Pass, which Shinkansen toward Osaka that covered by the pass? How long did it takes to reach Osaka from Narita airport? because from what i've read, Nozomi are not covered by the Pass.
2. Please kindly explain the route from Narita Airport To Osaka

4th Nov: Osaka To Kyoto
3. This route is also covered by JR Pass, right?

6th Nov: Kyoto To Tokyo
4. This route is also covered by JR Pass, right?

6th - 11th: Tokyo
5. In Tokyo, do all area covered by JR Pass? or there ie another area that didn't covered by JR Pass?

11th Nov: Tokyo To Haneda Airport
6. Did JR Pass cover route to Haneda Airport? Does it straight route or have to change line?

Thank you.

Hi there,

1.) You can take the Hikari Shinkansen services from Tokyo to Osaka, the trains are identical to the Nozomi trains but stop at a couple more stations on the route, that's the only difference. A one way Tokyo - Osaka takes about 180 minutes on the Hikari and is fully covered by the JR Pass. Coming from Narita Airport, you first take the Narita Express from Narita Airport to Tokyo station (about 60 minutes) and then the Hikari.

2.) Travel to Kyoto and back to Tokyo is also covered.

3.) Most area's in Tokyo can be reached using local JR lines, the Tokyo metro is not included.

4.) Travel to Haneda is also covered. You can use the Tokyo Monorail for free from Hamamatsucho station to Haneda and can use local JR lines to travel to Hamamatsucho.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Thank you so much Daniel, this is very helpful.

As for the pass, is there any 9 days pass that available for JR Pass? Because total of my trips will be 9 days (start from 3rd November when i reached Tokyo).
