We will arrive at Nagoya 3/26 and would like to be able to travel to Osaka, Kyoto, Nara and maybe Tokyo. Should we buy a general pass?
Travel and JR pass

Hi there,
A 7 day JR Pass could be useful here. Could you post your itinerary with the route and dates, that way I could confirm whether the JR Pass would be useful.
Hope to hear from you,
Daniel

Thank you for your response.
We do not have a set itinerary, we plan to just wing it. As I stated above we arrive at Nagoya on 3/26/15 and will be in Japan for 2 weeks. Osaka, Kyoto. Nara and possibly Tokyo are on our wish list. We will also be visiting family on the area. Our departure date is 4/8/15. We just wanted to make sure we didn't purchase the wrong transportation pass.
Your help is appreciated.
Carol
Hi Carol,
Just "Winging it" is my favorite way of travel. This way you get to see places you otherwise may not have encountered and the free spirit is nice as well.
As for the JR Pass 7 day JR Pass could be very helpful if you can cover Nagoya - Kansai (Kyoto/Osaka/Nara) - Tokyo - Nagoya with it or even a 14 day JR Pass if you include a visit to Hiroshima.
You will have to do a certain amount of travel for a JR Pass to pay of at the same time it fits your plans well, as you can take the train anytime you like.
Hope this helps,
Daniel
