Hi there, we are planning a 7 days trip to Japan and could really use some advise on how to get around. We're staying in Tokyo for 3 days before leaving to Kyoto and Osaka will be our last destination. We're arriving at Narita airport at around 7p.m, I've ordered a 7 days JR pass and wondering:
- Can I use JR pass to travel from the airport to Takadanobaba which is where I'm staying?
If yes:
- Which train do I take and how to get the tickets (Will I have to book them online in advance or just get them at the ticket counter after arrival)?
- How do I get from Takadanobaba to Aioichō, Kamigyō-ku, Kyōto-shi which is where I'm gonna stay in Kyoto using Jr pass?

Hello Emily,
1.) Yes, Takadanobaba is conveniently located on the JR Yamanote loop line and can easily be accessed. You can take the narita express from Narita Airport to Tokyo station, at Tokyo transfer to the Yamanote line to Takadanobaba. You can reserve tickets once you arrive in Japan.
2.) For travel to Kyoto, take the same Yamanote line back from Takadonobaba to Tokyo station from where you can use the Hikari Shinkansen to Kyoto. You will likely need to use a bus, subway or taxi to your accommodation from Kyoto station, as there is no JR station closeby. The nearest subway is likely Imadegawa.
