Hi there,

Yes! This is one of the most cost-efficient trips you can make with the Japan Rail Pass.

The Hayabusa Shinkansen between Hokkaido and Tokyo is also covered.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

If you arrive in the afternoon to Narita you'll have to stop at Shin-Aomori or Shin-Hakodate for the night. Check your options on Hyperdia website, excluding Airplane and Private railway options: http://www.hyperdia.com/
