Hi, I need help in understanding the process of buying Jap Rail Pass ticket
I am going to be travelling to Japan for 10 days (Tokyo and Hokkaido).
I would like to know how much the what kind of Rail Pass and the cost of the Rail Pass:
1) 14 days pass
2) Travel in Tokyo
3) Travel go and back from Tokyo to Sapporo/Hokkaido.

A one-way ticket alone from Tokyo - Sapporo costs ¥ 26,820, making a return (¥ 53,640) would more than pay for a 14 day JR Pass (¥ 46,390). Add to that travel in Hokkaido, Tokyo and to the Airport and you've got a really good deal.
You could look at A JR East-Hokkaido Pass as alternative but this provides only a selection of days where you can travel.

I have checked the JR East-Hokkaido and it requires me to select 6 flexible days within the 14 days period for 26000 yen.
Since I am in Japan for only 10 days.
I was thinking, first 6 days (utilize the Rail Pass) and travel from Tokyo-->Hokkaido--->Tokyo. Last 4 days (use normal train ticket in Tokyo)
That would save more money right?

Yes, it would save you money for sure. Just a one way to Sapporo is nearly that price.
