i'm planning to fly into Narita, take the train into Tokyo, stay for a day or two, then take a train to osaka for 3 days and then travel back forth between Osaka and Kyoto for 3 days before heading back to spend my last 6 days in Tokyo. on the 14th day i will take a train from Tokyo back to Narita. i'm hoping to use local transit within those 3 cities as well as the bullet trains.

would the 14 day pass be the best option?

does it provide unlimited travel on transit lines?

would you make a better recommendation between travelling between cities to save time and money?

Hi there,

I think the best fit for your travel plan would be to use a 7 day JR Pass for travel to Osaka, Kyoto and back to Tokyo. These are the routes that cost the most and is where the JR Pass will give you the best savings. Then buy local passes or tickets for travel around Tokyo, as local travel within the Tokyo area won't cost a lot.

The JR Pass does indeed provide unlimited travel during its validity period.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
