Hi there,

We are trying to decide which/if JR rail pass to purchase for our upcoming trip to Japan: none, 7-day or 14-day.

We land in Tokyo HND on March 30,
Travel to Kyoto on April 4
Travel to Hakone April 9
Leave via HND April 10

We are not sure what other travel we will be doing while in Japan, but may take day trips from either Tokyo or Kyoto.

Hello Bret,

A 7 day JR Pass is worth considering if you can make the trip Tokyo - Kyoto - Hakone - Tokyo within the 7 day period. The cost of a pass is similar to a return Tokyo - Kyoto but now you get 7 days of unlimited travel for the same price.

You can also use the pass to return to HND airport using the Tokyo Monorail.
