Hi Daniel-san,
We are a family of 5 and will be arriving in Tokyo on 19 March evening. Planned to stay in Tokyo for 3 nights, Kawaguchiko 1 night, Kyoto 1 night and the rest in Osaka. We have no idea how are we going to go from Kawaguchiko to Kyoto. Will the jr pass be useful for our travel?

Hi there,
A JR Pass would not help you on this route, in terms of savings. For Kawaguchiko to Kyoto, is not an easy route. The best for you would be to take an express bus from Kawaguchiko to Mishima, then use the Shinkansen from there to Kyoto.
For bus details see:

Hope this helps,
Daniel
