Hi Expert-San,

Thank you for taking the time to read and answer my questions, I really appreciate all the help. I will be traveling to Japan beginning of October for 12 days. My itinerary is as follows: Tokyo-5 days --> Hakone- 2 days --> Kyoto- 4 days--> Tokyo- 1 day .
I was wondering if I should just get the 7 day JR pass and activate it when I go to Hakone and Kyoto and get a suica / pasmo card for Tokyo traveling? Or, would it be more cost efficient to get the14 days pass and activate it at Narita for use during my entire trip?

Kindly,
Mini Traveler

Hi Mini Traveler,

I do think a 7 day JR Pass will be a good option here, when used for travel to Hakone (Shinkansen to Odawara station), Kyoto and back to Tokyo.

Then for travel around Tokyo, look at buying normal tickets or using a Suica card, as local travel itself is relatively cheap.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
