1.) Yes, you could, given that seats are available. Any nationwide JR Pass is valid for this.

2.) I would assume so, you could also by your child a separate seat if you wish.

1. Anyway, is there any sleeper train from Tokyo to Sapporo?. Or the closest destination to Sapporo?.

1. I read some forum that sunrise seto reservation seats are bit difficult to get. Is there any sleeper bus as an alternative which still be covered by JR pass?. If so, do you know the schedule of it , where to reserve the seats and departure point from Tokyo station?.

1.) With the Hokkaido Shinkansen opening a couple years ago, all night trains going north of Tokyo stopped operating.

2.) This is correct, the Sunrise can be quite hard to get tickets for, especially in the weekend or during holiday periods. If you want to travel by night you could consider a night bus but these are not covered by the JR Pass. Personally, I would stick with using the Shinkansen, just thinking about a night bus makes me tired.
