Hi,

Wife and I shall be in Japan from 08 Oct until 22 Oct.

08-12 Tokyo (narita)
12-15 Kyoto
15-18 Hiroshima
18-21 Fukuoka
21 back to Tokyo for flight out

Would the 14 day pass be a better deal with activation on 12 Oct or activate on arrival and get a local train pass from Narita to city.

Also will a Suica card work from Narita to Tokyo and also at the rest of the cities as per itinerary.

Many thanks,
Phil

Hi Phil,

As far as I can see, there's not really a difference activating it upon arrival or later on. It would mean you'd have to get tickets for the first couple of days in Tokyo or near the end. Do you have any day trips planned out of Tokyo? Depending on this you may want to start your pass earlier/later.

Suica can be used to/from Narita Airport on local JR lines. As well for public transport in the cities you visit.

Kind regards,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for the heads up.

Just so that I am getting this correct, can the JR card be used locally instead of SUICA and if not can I get a SUICA from either Narita or Haneda?

The first few days in Tokyo shall be to Yokohama and the Miura peninsula. WIll the JR card work or SUICA better?

Thanks,
Phil
