Hello. I want to ask wheather i need to buy JR pass or hokuriku arch pass if i want to explore tokyo, shiba ,mt fuji, osaka, kyoto, shirakawa go ? Bcoz i need to buy 5 pax of it and want to be more efficient of it.

And is there any direct from.osaka to kyoto vice versa with hokuriko arch pass? And how many times all train ,shikansen n bus will operate every day? I still confuse if i have to stay on each kyoto and osaka or i can stay at kyoto/osaka and play to othet area for return in one day.

Hi there,

The Hokuriku Arch Pass would cover your trip and best a good and cost effective option.

It depends on the route but train services are frequent, during the day there is at least one train option every 30 minutes.

The one downside of this pass is that the Tokaido Shinkansen is not included, meaning you'd have to go back via Kanazawa to Tokyo. This would involve one transfer.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi Daniel. Thanks for ur reply. Anyway hokuriku also can be used for shirakawa go as well ? Anyway whats the differences beside the shinkansen option with jr pass? And if i go from narita to go to mount fuji or kawaguchi ko how i maximize my hokuriku arch pass then? Since we just landing for 9 hours flight. we want to plan it precisely so we wont waste our energy on it.

Hope u can give us the detail about it. Thanks Dan

Hi again,

It's good to do your planning ahead of time.

The Hokuriku arch pass does not include the bus to Shirakawa-go but neither would the Japan Rail Pass. The main difference is that the The Hokuriku Arch Pass is cheaper than the JR Pass but also covers travel over the "The Hokuriku Arch" and locally around Tokyo and Kansai.

Travel to Kawaguchiko is not fully covered by either pass, you'll find the details here:

Hope this helps!
Daniel
