Hi there,
First take the JR Chuo line from Shinjuku to Tokyo or Shinagawa stations, from there you can get on the Hikari Shinkansen to Shin-Osaka.
The way back is the same in reverse, then from Tokyo station take the Tokyo Metro "Hibiya" line to Roppongi.
