Hi,
I used Hyperdia to search for Hakata - Beppu.
I deselected Airplane, Nozomi and private rail.
Search resulted with a basic fare and a seat fee.
Why is there a seat fee? Can I do away with it? See below.

Hi there,
The JR Pass covers all these fees, you do not have to worry/think about this.
What Hyperdia shows, is just what the total fee consists off.
