Hi!
My family of 4 just had 14 days of great travel with the JR pass. A highly recommended vacation with kids!
In a few weeks I am going back for a shorter stay with 2 friends. We arrive with the Beetle Ferry in Fukuoka and will go to Hiroshima and Kyoto, doing day trips from Kyoto. Two of us leave Japan from Kansei int. Airport after six days, and one is continuing to Tokyo that same day. It looks like the 7 days Sanyo - San'in Area Pass is good for the two of us, but what should my friend who is also includning Tokyo do? Buy the same pass and add a single ticket to Tokyo, og by the All japan Pass? or something else? He will not do any day trips out of Tokyo after arriving there.

Hi there,
The Sanyo - San'in Area Pass is indeed a good fit here. For your friend, a 7 day JR Pass would be very cost effective IF it would be used to travel to Tokyo as well. As long as you can plan it like that, it would all be good.
Hope this helps,
Daniel
