How do I know I will be able to book the trains I want as bookings can only be made when in Japan (which during the Rugby World Cup may be too late?). Seems to me there should be a way to make bookings well in advance.

Hi there,

Booking your tickets in Japan should cause no problems. Trains rarely sell out and there are plenty of seats to go around.

Hope this helps,
