Hello,

We already have our itinerary planned out, so we will be reserving seats once we activate our JR Green Pass in Japan.

Question #1 -- What happens if we miss our train? Will I be able to make a new reservation since we have Green passes?

Question #2 -- Also, of course we would like to cancel if we know we won't make it. How and where do we cancel?

Thanks.

Hi there,

1.) The official rule is that you can still travel on the next train, using a non-reserved seat. In practise, JR Staff will often just book the next train for you.

2.) At any JR ticket window/station.

Kind regards,
Daniel

Thank you Daniel-san. A couple of follow ups:

1) A non-reserved seat still on the Green Car?

2) I read something about "seat lights" and it turns yellow if someone has a reservation for the seats we are in. Is this correct?

3) We will be bringing 1 medium sized luggage each, will this fit under the seats? Are they too heavy for the overhead compartment?

Thank you so much for your help!

Regards,
Ramil
